5 Best Spots for Outdoor Dining in Alpharetta and Milton

Now that the weather is warmer, and hopefully, less rainy, I’m really looking forward to spending a little more time outdoors. As a Milton, GA local who happens to love food and a nice glass of wine, one of my favorite things to do is explore the local restaurants. So, let me introduce you to a few of my favorite local spots with great outdoor dining options. If you're looking for a beautiful setting to enjoy a meal and take in the sights and sounds of Alpharetta and Milton, then these five restaurants are the perfect spots.

Milton's Cuisine

First up is Milton's Cuisine, a farm-to-table restaurant with an exceptional outdoor dining experience. Their patio is surrounded by a beautiful garden and provides a peaceful atmosphere. The restaurant itself is housed in a restored 150-year-old farmhouse and provides a unique and charming dining experience.

Milton's Cuisine has been a staple in the area since it opened in 2006, and for good reason. The restaurant sources ingredients from local farmers and changes their menu frequently to reflect the seasons. The result is fresh, flavorful dishes that showcase the best of what the region has to offer. They serve lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday in addition to an incredible Sunday Brunch.

My favorite Milton’s experience of all is their Garden Dinner Series. The four-course family style dinner runs between April and October each year and is hosted in the middle of their Milton Acre garden. Dates and tickets are available here.

Citizen Soul

Citizen Soul is a modern American restaurant with a spacious outdoor seating area. The restaurant itself is sleek and stylish, with west coast style cuisine and an expansive California wine collection. The patio at Citizen Soul is one of the best in the Alpharetta area. The space is large enough to accommodate groups of all sizes, and the atmosphere is relaxed and casual.

When it comes to food, Citizen Soul does not disappoint. The restaurant's menu is full of creative and delicious dishes, with a focus on local and sustainable ingredients. Some of my favorites are the Pimento Cheese Fritters, Duck Fat Fries, and Pan Seared Scallops. But the food is only part of the equation at Citizen Soul. The restaurant also has an impressive craft beer and cocktail selection. The cocktails are particularly noteworthy, with unique and creative combinations that are sure to impress even the most discerning drinkers.

Fogon and the Lions

For those looking for a Latin American twist, Fogon and the Lions is the perfect spot. The restaurant is housed in a charming brick building and has a lively and festive atmosphere. But it's the outdoor seating area that really shines. The indoor/outdoor bar is the perfect spot for happy hour and the patio offers plenty of outdoor seating. It's a great spot for a date night or a night out with friends. And the food is just as impressive as the atmosphere.

The restaurant's menu is full of Latin American favorites, from tacos and empanadas to ceviche and fajitas. One dish that's particularly popular is the "Fogon Fajitas," which come with your choice of meat or vegetables, warm tortillas, and all the fixings. It's a flavorful and filling dish that's perfect for sharing. Two of my favorite dishes are the BBQ Shrimp Taquitos and the Pork Cheek Tacos. Plus, I’m always up for a good glass of Spanish wine.

Up on the Roof

If you want to take in stunning panoramic views of the city while dining, then Up on The Roof is the spot for you. This rooftop bar and restaurant is located in the heart of Alpharetta and provides a unique and memorable dining experience.

Up on The Roof's outdoor seating area is expansive and provides breathtaking views of the downtown Alpharetta area. The space is covered and heated, so you can dine comfortably year-round. And the menu is full of delicious small plates, sandwiches, and salads. It’s one of my favorite spots for pre-dinner drinks or to meet up with a friend.

But it's not just the food and views that make Up on The Roof a must-visit spot. The restaurant also has an impressive selection of wine, craft beers, and signature cocktails. And if you're looking for a spot to enjoy happy hour, Up on The Roof's daily specials are a great deal.

The Union

Last but not least is The Union, a gastropub with a cozy and inviting outdoor seating area in the heart of Milton. The restaurant itself is housed in a historic building that has been beautifully restored, and the patio is the perfect spot to take in the charming surroundings.

The Union's menu is full of comfort food favorites, from fried chicken and waffles to mac and cheese. But the real standout dish is the "Union Burger." This juicy burger is topped with caramelized onions, bacon jam, and gruyere cheese, and comes with a side of crispy tater tots. It's a delicious and satisfying dish that's perfect for a casual dinner out.

And if you're a fan of craft beer, then The Union is the spot for you. The restaurant has an impressive selection of local and regional beers on tap, as well as a rotating selection of seasonal beers. And if beer isn't your thing, the restaurant also has a great wine list and an impressive selection of cocktails.

There really are some great local spots in both Milton and Alpharetta that allow you to enjoy a meal and soak up some sunshine. No matter what you’re in the mood for, there’s something for everyone at these five spots. Now that the weather is warming up, which one are you going to try? Is there a restaurant that you’d add to the list?
